Remember, remember the fifth of November... and if you're lucky enough to call the Dorset area home, you're in for an absolute treat when it comes to Guy Fawkes Night celebrations. From the stunning waterfront displays at Poole Quay to the community spirit of Littledown, our slice of the Dorset coast knows how to put on a fireworks show that'll have you planning next year's visit before the last sparkler has faded.
The 5th November Fireworks on Poole Quay are absolutely the crown jewel of Guy Fawkes celebrations in our area. There's something utterly magical about watching free fireworks explode over the historic harbour, with the water providing the perfect mirror for those cascading colours. The historic quay creates an amphitheatre-like setting that makes every vantage point feel special, whilst the cobbled streets fill with excited families clutching sparklers and steaming cups of something warming.
The Poole Quay celebration is completely free, making it accessible for everyone, though arriving early is essential for the best viewing spots along the water's edge. The historic quay can get wonderfully busy, so consider walking or using public transport if possible. The nearby Quay shopping area and restaurants make it easy to grab refreshments before or after the display.
Littledown Bonfire Night offers a more traditional community experience that feels wonderfully nostalgic. This incredible professional exhibition of fireworks keeps alive the memory of Guy Fawkes Night whilst creating new memories for families across Bournemouth. Set in the expansive parkland, it provides plenty of space for everyone to find their perfect viewing spot, and the bonfire creates that authentic Guy Fawkes atmosphere that harks back to celebrations of old. Local community groups often set up stalls here, creating that lovely village fête atmosphere.
For Littledown, parking is typically readily available, but arriving early ensures you get the premium spots. This year they will take place on Saturday 8th November, and you can expect live music, fire performers, and a giant funfair! Tickets are £12 for adults and £8 for children (or £8 and £6 respectively if you book early!)
The Christchurch Rotary Bonfire and Fireworks celebration has been running since 1977 with the sole purpose of providing a safe and enjoyable public fireworks display. With ticket prices at just £7 for adults and £4 for children when booked early, this family-friendly celebration has raised over £15,000 in previous years, with 100% of profits going directly to local charities and community projects. After four decades at Stanpit Recreation Ground, the event has found a wonderful new home at The Grange School, ensuring this beloved tradition continues for future generations.
