Our Winter Walk Experience
We began our winter walk near Upton House, where the formal gardens take on a softer character in the colder months. Bare branches frame the paths, frost often lingers on the lawns in the early morning, and the architecture of the house feels even more striking against a pale winter sky. From here, the routes gently lead into woodland, where the absence of leaves opens up long views through the trees and allows light to filter through in a way that feels unique to the season.
As we continued, the stillness became one of the most memorable parts of the experience. Winter reduces the background noise of the park, making birdsong and the sound of footsteps more noticeable. Open meadows feel expansive and uncluttered, and the views across the parkland and towards Poole Harbour appear sharper and more dramatic. It is an ideal time for thoughtful walks, photography or simply enjoying a sense of space that can feel rare elsewhere.
